Real Name: Melanie Janine Brown Was Born: May 29, 1975 in Leeds, West Yorkshire Bio: Melanie Janine Brown is a British
pop singer, known as one of the members of the girl band, the Spice Girls, where
she was known as "Scary Spice", apparently because of her in-your-face attitude
and her hairstyle. Brown was born to a English mother and a Nevisian father.
She began her music career as one-fifth of the UK girl group Spice Girls, and
branched out into solo singing as the group dissolved. In 1998, Missy Elliott
assisted Brown with the single "I Want You Back", which went on to become part
of the soundtrack to the film Why Do Fools Fall in Love. The song was recorded
in one afternoon and ultimately sold 218,000 copies. It was the 82nd bestseller
of 1998 in the UK, giving Brown her first and only solo #1 in her own country.
This was confirmed on the day that the Spice Girls played their last world tour
concert at Wembley Stadium in front of 52,000 fans...
